Game Flow
To start a game select "New Game" from the file menu. You will be presented with the playing area. Postman Pat's truck will enter from the right side of the screen. To get out of the truck, click the mouse button. If you do not do this, Postman Pat will get out of the truck automatically once the truck reaches the edge of the screen.
Once you are out of the truck you will be faced with a screen full of enemies. The basic rule is: if something moves, shoot it. Being an evil Postman you don't have to worry about silly things like "innocent bystandards". You are invited to blow everything up. As long as the destruction of an animate being is involved, you will be rewarded.
To clear a level you must deliver the mail to Mrs. Goggins. She is a little old lady who will eventually walk along the sidewalk. Either throw mail at her, or hit her with a grenade, it doesn't matter. You will then enter the next level. As you reach higher levels the difficulty of the game will increase and you will be faced with new enemies.
Game Play Options
Fast Graphics: When fast graphics is turned on Postman Pat will attempt to play at 30 frames per second. When turned off the game will try for 60 frames per second. If you notice the game slowing down, you should turn on fast graphics. You can toggle Fast Graphics while playing using "Command-F".
Music: When "Music" is turned on the music will play. This can again be toggled on and off while playing, using "Command-M"
Sound: Same deal as music. Can be toggled with "Command-S"
Sound Channels: When Postman Pat loads it should detect how many sound channels are available on your machine. The "Sound" menu will display a list of choices, up to the number of channels available or eight, whichever is less. The selected value will be the number of sound channels Postman Pat uses (the number of sounds that can be played at once). Using fewer channels can speed up gameplay. Remember that Music and Sound use the same channels, so if music and sound are both active and you are using 1 sound channel, things will be wonky.
A Disclaimer
I don't in any way condone the actions of Postman Pat. Being evil, by definition, is bad. I do not wish to convey the message that blowing people up is in any way desirable. The point of view of this game, the player playing the "evil" side, arose from my frustration of watching years of TV shows and movies filled with inept bad guys who always lost. This is obviously not representative of the real world. Thus, I have shaped this game to more closely model our world, meaning a world filled with cyborganic postmen launching junk mail at passing bystandards. Um, yeah.
